FAQ

What's included?

  • Baja Box's maps are unique, beautiful, and interactive art pieces that include custom curated recommendations tailored to your tastes. Print, frame and hang your custom map and save the memories. If and when you are ready to explore the recommendations simply look at the back of your map for tips and guidance. It is a treasure map disguised as wall art!

What do I need?

  • We strongly recommend making sure you have reception or a roaming data plan with your mobile carrier. We make an attempt to set everything within walking distance, however, if you prefer ordering Uber's to move around make sure you have data! Taxis are readily available but Uber is preferred.
  • Bring some cash. Most, if not all, establishments accept widely used debit/credit cards but it's always nice to have some cash just in case. You can exchange it before crossing.
  • Passport and U.S gov't ID

Is it safe?

  • Like any other city there are risks anytime you travel, especially if you wander without any guidance. Our team is predominantly born and raised in San Diego, CA so we understand the worry of crossing the border. However, we only recommend places we have personally been to and enjoyed.
  • We recommend checking out this post that outlines tips and guides to traveling to Tijuana, as well as reading our disclaimer below.

How do I get across the border?

  • This is a great detailed guide.
  • We highly recommend walking across. This involves taking the MTS Trolley Blue Line walking across the border. Feel free to email us if you have any questions or concerns.

Do I need a visa?

  • Citizens of the United States, Canada, European Schengen area countries, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and a number of other countries, do not need a visa to enter Mexico for tourism or business purposes.

Do I need a permit?

  • If you plan to stay in Mexico for less than 7 days, then you will not have to pay for an FMM Visitors Permit. If you plan to stay in Mexico between 7 and 180 days, then you will need to pay an FMM fee. The current FMM fee is 594 pesos or around $30. You will pay this fee at a small bank window in the immigration building. The immigration official checking your passport and FMM form will tell you where to pay.
